# Connecting speakers to events

If you are running a virtual or in-person event, there’s a few steps to giving attendees speaker permissions using our Live Video feature.

1. Create your session
2. Create a speaker
3. Connect the speaker to an attendee account

If you don’t connect an attendee to a speaker, then that user will not be able to speak in a Broadcast room ([What are the different types of sessions?](/knowledge-base/organizers/sessions/what-are-the-different-types-of-sessions.md))

{% hint style="info" %}
Attendees must be registered to your ConferenceTap event before you can connect a speaker to that user. Ask them to create an account, or you can manually add them to the event. [How to manually add users to your event](/knowledge-base/organizers/people/how-to-manually-add-users-to-your-event.md)
{% endhint %}

Once you connect a user account to a speaker, the user will get an email to let them know their account has been connected as a speaker.
